Helping Our Healthcare Heroes
Some of our talented designers, cutters and seamstresses have returned to their posts for a very special cause: to make PPE for the NHS. Since the Easter weekend, they have been working in safe and hygienic conditions to deliver scrubs, gowns, and clinical hoods to NHS Trusts around the UK.
So far, we have taken direct orders for 7,000 sets of scrubs, 16,000 clinical hoods, and 19,000 uniquely reusable gowns, which can be safely washed, sterilised and reused 50 times or more.
“We’re perfectly positioned to use our expertise to help our country and protect our healthcare heroes.”
The designs are quite special. Due to shortages of the usual PPE fabric, we’re using a better quality material to craft more robust and comfortable garments. Our designers have also made adjustments such as easy-to-wear elasticated waists and more practical pockets.
True to our passion for sustainability, our approach will help to reduce waste, reuse garments, and recycle materials. The clinical hoods, for example, are made from recycled fabric that would usually go to landfill. We hope too that our unique reusable gowns, which have been tested and approved by the hospitals, can replace the disposable gowns that are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
“With our support, our NHS healthcare heroes can skip the long queue for international PPE supplies and get the protection they need. We can’t think of a better way to say thank you.”
Our managing director, Christopher Nieper, explains a little more about the PPE project in the video below. You can read our full interview with Christopher here.
