Sustainability is our mindset, so we’ve introduced a whole range of methods and processes to help us achieve our ultimate goal of being the greenest clothing manufacturer in Europe.

It's about giving young people the confidence as well as the opportunity to pursue their dreams. In the wider community, we sponsor the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton, helping their students develop valuable employability skills. At higher education level, we work in partnership with the University of Derby, contributing awards and scholarships to ease tuition fees and help launch fledgling fashion careers.

Sustainable suppliers

That’s why we work with the Supreme Green Cotton project, who grow their cotton ethically in Naoussa in Greece, use environmentally responsible practices and are 100% transparent and traceable - so you know that every garment made using our jersey cotton is sustainably produced.

But that’s not all. We also source from many local suppliers on our doorstep including wool from a 200-year-old Yorkshire mill, which means it doesn’t have far to travel to our facilities in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

Natural yarns and fabrics

Staying cool is essential during the warmer months, and natural fabric blends are both lightweight and comfortable - whatever the weather.

No matter what piece you go for, what colour you choose or what style suits you best, we only use the best quality fibres and fabrics, including:

• 100% woven cotton - We use this breathable, soft, lightweight fabric in many of our nightwear designs.

• Supreme Green Cotton® - A sustainably produced, cooling fabric that’s kind to your skin. It’s affectionately known as White Gold.

• Linen - This well-known cool fabric is made from flax, which absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

• Tencel - This plant-based fibre is sourced from sustainably managed eucalyptus.

Environmentally conscious

We’re on a mission to reinvigorate the UK’s fashion industry, and being environmentally conscious is a huge part of that. We work hard to make sure that every piece of fabric we use is sustainably sourced and responsibly produced, and continue our environmental commitment throughout the manufacturing process.

That’s why all of our factories benefit from solar power, and all the energy we use is either generated onsite or comes from solar or wind power. That includes our fabric print factory right here in Derbyshire, where we print and dye all our own fabrics. This reduces waste and saves water, thereby making the process more sustainable.

We design, stitch and knit every piece of clothing in our factories, and also harvest rainwater in our roof tanks, which supplies 90% of our water requirements. And, thanks to our efficient manufacturing techniques, we generate less than 1% of waste stock - which goes to charity - meaning we send zero waste to landfill.

We’re extremely proud of our environmental credentials, and have even been awarded a Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development for our commitment. This is the highest recognition any British company can receive, and we’re deeply honoured to be the only Derbyshire business to hold this accolade.
